Hi, it's nice to meet you!

I'm Mimi Wilhelm, and I'm glad you're here.

What is a fun fact about myself?

I authored a curriculum that encourages independence, creativity, confidence, and emotional awareness and regulation in children, currently used in over 100 schools internationally. This work reflects my deep commitment to supporting children’s emotional development and strengthening the environments in which they grow.

What can you expect as my client?

Clients often experience me as warm, present, and deeply attentive. I prioritize creating a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected. Therapy is collaborative, and we move at a pace that feels right for you.

Depending on your needs, our work may focus on understanding patterns in your thoughts and behaviors, exploring relationship dynamics, processing emotions, and building practical coping and communication skills you can use in your daily life.

Through our work together, you can expect to develop greater self-awareness, emotional clarity, and insight into both past and present experiences. We will explore how your experiences have shaped you, while also working toward shifting patterns in ways that feel meaningful and sustainable. My goal is for you to leave therapy feeling more confident, grounded, and equipped to navigate challenges with resilience and intention.

Who am I outside of therapy?

I am a mom in my 40s, a dedicated professional for many years, and an avid community volunteer who values connection and giving back. I ran an early childhood center for 15 years, deepening my understanding of child development, family systems, and the everyday realities parents face. I love spending time outdoors — especially picnicking and being in nature — which helps keep me grounded and present.

How did I become a therapist?

My journey into therapy grew from a deep curiosity about human development, relationships, and emotional experience. I hold a Master’s degree in Education and spent over 20 years directing, teaching, and supporting children, families, and educators. Throughout that time, I was continually drawn toward the emotional and relational aspects of the work — listening deeply, fostering connection, and helping people better understand themselves.

Ideal Clients

I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Touro University Worldwide, which has allowed me to deepen my clinical knowledge and expand my ability to support individuals, couples, and families in meaningful and transformative ways.

I am currently completing my clinical internship on the path toward licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). My work is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment-based and systems perspectives, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and play-based approaches when working with children.

I integrate practical skill-building with deeper relational and attachment-focused work, helping clients understand not only why patterns exist, but how to shift them. My approach is rooted in systems thinking, recognizing the impact of relationships and environment on emotional well-being. Alongside my graduate training, I bring over two decades of professional experience supporting children, families, and educators, with specialized expertise in emotional regulation, behavior, and relationship development. I am committed to creating emotionally safe, attuned spaces where growth, resilience, and connection can flourish.

I feel especially connected to working with women, parents, children, and adolescents — supporting emotional regulation, parenting challenges, life transitions, and relationship dynamics. I have a deep respect for children and a natural ability to connect with them, creating a safe and engaging environment where emotional growth and expression can unfold. I also work with couples who are seeking to strengthen their connection, improve communication, and navigate challenges together.

I welcome individuals from all backgrounds who are seeking deeper understanding, meaningful change, and a compassionate, relational approach to therapy.
