Hi, it's nice to meet you!

I'm Allyn LaCombe, and I'm glad you're here.

What is a fun fact about myself?

I am a Green Bay Packers fan to a fault, and let’s be honest, there’s a certain pride that comes with it… I also take part in a fantasy football league every season though I must admit, I’ve yet to win.

What can you expect as my client?

You can expect a focused, forward moving space where we spend less time staying stuck in the problem and more time building solutions that actually work for your life. From the start, we’ll identify what you want to be different and begin creating clear, realistic steps to get you there. I take a practical, strengths based approach. That means together we will find out what’s already working and use those wins to create momentum!

You bring your goals and lived experience; I bring structure, strategy, and accountability. Together, we will focus on progress you can see, feel, and carry into your everyday life.

Who am I outside of therapy?

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy hiking trails, traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest, hanging out around the tattoo parlor, and attending live shows. I have a keen interest in automotive work and I frequently find myself under the hood.

Pronouns: He/Him

How did I become a therapist?

When I left the Navy, I began working in a probation office and pursued a bachelor’s degree in psychology to further my career. While taking a course on adolescent development, I had a light bulb go off in my head that inspired me to shift gears and work toward becoming a marriage and family therapist.

Ideal Clients

I am currently a master’s student at Capella University studying Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy. I’ve also been chipping away at obtaining my CADC-1 and QMHA-1 certification between semesters.

Over the past few years, I have worked at a local recovery center here in Portland where I spend most of my day facilitating psychoeducational and process groups. I assist people in identifying maladaptive thoughts, recognizing cognitive distortions, and building healthier behavioral and emotional responses.

I understand that therapy can be flat out hard at times. You don’t need to come in feeling motivated or ready every time we meet. What’s most important is a willingness to show up as you are and explore new possibilities for your life!

I especially enjoy working with couples and families, as well as veterans and veteran families. However, I will always welcome individuals from all backgrounds and identities. My practice is inclusive, and I value working with a wide range of people and relationships.
