True Heart Therapy

for genuine healing

Hi, It’s nice to meet you.

I’m Chloe Rust, and i’m glad you are here.

A fun fact about myself is that I love cats! I have 3 of my own and hope to get more.

What can you expect as my client:

As my client, you can expect less advice given and more questions asked. You have a better understanding of your situation and your struggles than I will ever have, so rather than provide direct advice I generally prefer to ask thought-provoking questions that help guide you to the solutions you are looking for. Most of the time the answers are already within you, and it’s simply my job to help you find them! You do not need to fear a judgemental or dismissive attitude from me- I am accepting and affirming of all clients, no matter your background or what brings you to therapy.

Who am I outside of therapy:

Outside of therapy I enjoy playing the piano and singing, watching my favorite TV show Bob’s Burgers, and playing Dungeons and Dragons with my fiancé and our friends. I am a huge homebody and spend much of my free time cuddling with my cats, baking, and reading.

How did I become a therapist:

I was inspired to become a therapist by the amazing therapist that treated me while I was in high school. She was the first therapist I saw who used models other than cognitive behavioral therapy, and it was the first time I viewed therapy as a formula, with different therapy models you can input depending on the needs of the client, rather than as a one-size-fits-all approach. I was so happy with the progress I made in therapy with her that I was inspired to help others in the same way.

training

I am an MFT trainee working toward my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at National University. I am trained in systemic models such as structural family therapy and solution-focused therapy. I enjoy working with youth, adults, individuals, couples, and families.

experience

I’ve worked with mental health clients in a variety of settings, from locked short-term residential treatment programs providing 24/7 supervision and care, to longer-term transitional living programs from which the clients come and go. I’ve worked with both adults and youth, and have even led coping tools and skills groups with clients at some of my previous jobs.

ideal clients

My ideal client is one that wants to learn more about themselves and leans into a collaborative dynamic in therapy. They provide honest feedback when treatment efforts aren’t working and something new is needed, and they introspect during therapy sessions to provide insights and observations regarding their struggles, mood, behavior, etc.
