My vision

With all supervisees, this is my intended vision to bring into our work:

To strengthen practitioner’s clinical skills to genuinely connect with clients in becoming co-experts of the client-therapeutic process. To apply curiosity, multiperspective views, transparency, vulnerability, and creative possibility to the supervisory and therapeutic relationships in which we are a part of.

My values

  • Safety and humility in making mistakes
  • Vulnerability when stuck
  • Willingness to explore possibility
  • Curiosity
  • Analyzing from multiple levels, angles, and perspectives
  • Highlighting strengths and successes
  • Leaning into difficulty and discomfort
  • Applying creativity and non-common solutions to create change
  • Taking risks with supports
  • Confronting imposter syndrome
  • Integrating Self and Therapist Self

What am i like as a supervisor?

This pyramid below symbolizes my approach to supervision. As a trained LMFT, the foundation of my pyramid is rooted in a systemic framework. That means I consider multiple levels of context and how they inform the client’s experience. The next piece of the pyramid is my theoretical orientation. I pull from postmodern and trauma-informed theories and integrate other interventions with intention. The next pyramid piece details my disposition with supervisees. I appreciate the genuine connection we build as we explore social locations, the distribution of power and systems in context with therapy. I believe transformational growth and learning can only occur when supervisees are safe to make mistakes and can bring struggles to me for support. The smallest piece of the pyramid contains my unique personality and qualities that I infuse into my work.

Testimonials from former supervisees:

“Brandie is a highly skilled and experienced counselor. She is deeply empathetic, effective, and gentle in her critique. She is an approachable, humble, and compassionate professor, supervisor, and human being. I feel lucky to have her as my mentor.”

“Brandie does a great job at providing positive encouragement and feedback. She offers effective supervision and solutions to problems. She is very knowledgeable about many theories and their application – I feel I can trust her advice and guidance.”

“I really appreciate the way Brandie gives feedback! She’ll usually start out by asking how we think it went, and giving us the opportunity before shaping the narrative with her feedback, which I think is helpful given the inherent power structure of supervisor/supervisee. She is consistently positive and strength-based in her approach and also doesn’t hesitate to shine light on potential growth areas.”

“Brandie is open with us, and I feel respected as a person and as a therapist in supervision with her. I love that she is open to learning with us, and from us, as well as able to offer what she knows.”

If you’re interested in supervision with Brandie, please send an email to set up a consultation time to discuss fees, frequency of supervision, and fit. I’m looking forward to supporting you in your clinical development!
