What is a fun fact about myself?
I am a quintuple Capricorn! I think this mostly means I am destined to love goats.
What can you expect as my client?
Therapy can be a space for experimentation and hope. My goal is to help you feel safe and supported in telling your story and to help you develop new stories in the process of healing. I aim to bring compassion, openness, and judgement-free curiosity and love finding creative ways to address pain, while attending to the values and inherent strengths you hold as an individual. My work is grounded in narrative and relational therapy, though I enjoy adopting various behavioral and insight-oriented strategies when called for. I believe it is important to address internal and external factors impacting mental health and practice informed by social justice, cultural humility, and harm reduction principles.
Also, I always want to know about the music you love, the show you’ve been watching, or the meme that resonated with you!
Who am I outside of therapy?
I am originally from Iowa and moved to Portland in 2020 for grad school. Outside of the office, I love riding my bike around town, cycling through various crafting practices, and reading weird books. I love being in the Pacific Northwest and need to go to at least a few flower fields a year.
How did I become a therapist?
I love learning about people! My career path has been shaped by my own experiences with counseling and community involvement.
I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Studio Art from the University of Iowa. I went on to complete a Master of Arts degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR.
I have worked in private practice settings since 2022. I have experience supporting clients managing anxiety, depression, complex trauma, grief, life transitions, and neurodivergence.
My ideal client is someone curious and ready to explore, even if tentatively! I work with adults 18+ with presenting issues including anxiety, trauma, depression, grief and loss, ADHD/autism, and other life transitions. I believe therapy can include fun, creativity, and humor at times, and take a collaborative stance when working with clients on their treatment goals.
