Hi, it's nice to meet you!

I'm Joelle Mascord, and I'm glad you're here.

What is a fun fact about myself?
I used to be a massage therapist and worked in a day spa as well as an athletic club.

What can you expect as my client?
To be heard, validated and appreciated for the unique person that you are. You will also find a safe environment that welcomes all individuals to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I am committed to bringing empathy, open mindedness, authenticity and I welcome and value feedback during our time together. As a marriage and family therapist in training, I’m passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families build healthier, more fulfilling relationships — starting with the one you have with yourself!

Who am I outside of therapy?

I am a single mom to a wonderful 19 year-old daughter, as well as a cat mom to 2 cats! I also enjoy spending time with family and enjoying the beautiful Oregon coast.

Pronouns: She/Her

How did I become a therapist?
My passion for helping others started at a young age. But it wasn’t until I experienced my own personal healing through psychotherapy that I even considered becoming a therapist. I started my education in 2012 while also working full time. When I discovered that marriage and family therapists are trained to consider the whole family system as well as the individual, I knew this would allow me to help others in a very meaningful way. The way that our families impact us is powerful and when we can work with the family unit to improve the dysfunction, lasting change becomes more possible.

Ideal Clients

I am currently working towards my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from National University (formerly NCU). I will be graduating in December 2025.

I also have a bachelor’s of psychology degree from the University of Phoenix.

I’ve worked with families and children with issues such as anxiety, depression, attention disorders, and addressing low self-esteem. I’ve helped families to improve communication and cope with stress through major life changes. I bring a strong sense of empathy, patience, and interpersonal warmth to every interaction that I have. I am skilled in active listening, respectful communication, and providing non-judgmental support.

My ideal client is someone who values personal growth and is committed to making lasting positive changes in their lives and relationships. They are interested in not just addressing specific problems, but also in becoming more aware of themselves and their relationships. They are prepared to engage in the collaborative process of therapy, including homework and self-reflection.
