What is a fun fact about myself?
I love to travel! I have been to 6 of 7 continents and have crisscrossed the country 9 times! Any time I take a vacation it will likely be to someplace new, bonus points if it involves the ocean as I love to scuba dive.
What can you expect as my client?
As my client, you can expect to have a non judgmental space to share your dreams, your fears, and your emotions. I bring a lot of humor into our work, because joy is definitely a coping skill. I support you in shifting your perspective by asking questions you may not have thought of. I remind you of your strengths and your growth because it can be hard to see for ourselves.
I am also anticapitalist and decolonial, which means I likely will bring the lens of how the system affects us and even causes mental health symptoms into sessions as needed.
Who am I outside of therapy?
Outside of my work with clients, I am a writer, an earth lover and I’m big on relaxing. I spend time with my dog out in nature, I meditate and I watch a lot of TV. It’s all about balance.
How did I become a therapist?
I realized I wanted to be a therapist in my freshman year of college. And yet I still took a lot of twists and turns to get to this point of my practice. Helping people figure out why they do the things they do, and then supporting them in making changes to be the person they want to be is majorly rewarding for me.
I received my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the New School in 2012.
I have been trained in trauma focused work, cognitive behavioral interventions, substance use, meditation and mindfulness among others.
I have been a Professional Counselor Associate since March of 2024.
I started my career working in a substance use outpatient facility. I have also worked with children and families dealing with emotional challenges. I worked in community mental health for a decade before receiving my associate license with the state of Oregon.
My ideal client is someone who wants to find their purpose in life, be it creative, spiritual or anywhere in between. Finding your place within the web of life is a life changing experience and supporting you moving from survival into thriving is important work. You can release the programming of your childhood to live a life you dream of. Let’s get started today!
